Wallets Marts sold 4 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £660 per head and an average of £430, while 30 store bullocks peaked at £1210 and levelled at £899.
There were also 45 beef-breeding cattle forward when cows and heifers with calf-at-foot sold to £1750 and averaged £1210 for 35, while in-calf cows peaked at £1120 and levelled at £904 for 10.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1985 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £94 per head and 200p per kg to average 155.2p (-13.6p on the week).
There were also 436 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £110.50 for Texels and £45.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 51 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 241p and an average of 215.3p (-2p), while 19 prime bullocks also peaked at 241p but levelled at 218.4p (+3.6p).
In the rough ring 79 beef cows sold to 179p and averaged 116.6p (-1.8p).
There were also 2265 prime lambs that sold to £91 and 217p to average 160.6p (-20p).
The 481 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £95 for Suffolks and average £73, while light ewes peaked at £73 for Cheviots and levelled at £30.
The firm also sold held its Christmas show and sale of prime-stock in Carlisle yesterday when 20 heifers sold to a top of 319p and averaged 229.4p (+47.7p), while 38 bullocks peaked at 265p and levelled at 211.9p (+17.2p). Fifty-two prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 242.2p and averaged 197.6p (+14.1p), while 46 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 180.5p and levelled at 155p (+15.2p).
In the rough ring180 beef cows sold to 194.5p and averaged 129.3p (+14.3p), while 184 dairy cows peaked at 152.5p and levelled at 88.2p (+3.4p).
There were also 2290 prime lambs that sold to £230 and 589.7p to average 166.1p (-6.2p).
A small show of 83 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £97.50 for Beltex and £76.50 for Cheviots.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd held their Christmas show and sale of prime cattle in Lanark yesterday when 34 heifers sold to a top of 395p and averaged 247.8p (+13.7p), while 13 beef-bred bullocks peaked at 256p and levelled at 235.4p (+14.9p). Six prime, B&W bullocks averaged 130.2p (-1.9p).
In the rough ring 62 beef cows averaged 118p (+6p) and 49 beef cows levelled at 88p (+7.5p).
The firm also sold 2667 prime lambs to a top of £94 and 225p to average 160.6p (-11.3p).
The 505 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £137.50 for a Texel and average £64.54, while light ewes peaked at £59 for Blackfaces and levelled at £31.73.
