Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1114 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £94 per head and 200p per kg to average 170.1p (+11.1p on the week).
There were also 484 cast sheep forward when all classes were again dearer on the week with ewes selling to £134 for Beltex and £58.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 30 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 238p per kg and an average of 210.5p (-8.7p), while 28 prime bullocks peaked at 239p and levelled at 204.8p (-8.1p). Five prime bulls sold to 167p and averaged 122.8p.
In the rough ring 70 beef cows sold to 185p and averaged 122.2p (-2.6p).
There were also 1906 prime lambs that sold to £95 and 215.4p to average 165p (-1p).
The 454 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £113 for Texels and Suffolks to average £81. while light ewes peaked at £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £45.
The firm also sold 17 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 232.5p and an average of 201.4p (-4.3p), while 13 prime bullocks peaked at 218.5p and levelled at 197.9p (-0.8p). Twenty-seven prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 234.5p and averaged 190.2p (+4.7p), while 81 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 177.5p and levelled at 141.8p (-6.3p).
In the rough ring 86 beef cows sold to 191.5p and averaged 126.5p (-0.8p), while 210 dairy cows peaked at 156.5p and levelled at 92.6p (-4.9p). Five bulls sold to 114.5p and averaged 95p.
There were also 2643 prime lambs that sold to £113.80 and 291.4p to average 179.2p (+12p).
A small show of 125 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £105.50 for Beltex and average £72.48, while light ewes peaked at £43.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £38.56.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 247p and an average of 231.1p (no change on the week), while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks also peaked at 247p but levelled at 215.6p (+5.2p). Nine prime, B&W bullocks sold to 148p and levelled at 136.2p (+4.2p).
In the rough ring 30 beef cows averaged 118p (+7p), while 22 dairy cows levelled at 86p (+3p).
The firm also sold 1421 prime lambs to a top of £94 and 214p to average 173.1p (+8.8p).
The 202 heavy ewes forward sold to £145.50 for Texels and averaged £78.66, while 454 light ewes peaked at £63.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £49.21.
