MESSRS Craig Wilson Ltd sold 12 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1410.15 per head for a LimousinX and 247p per kg, also a LimousinX, to average £1265.10 and 225.2p.
In the rough ring 31 beef cows sold to £1170 for a Limousin and 135.2p for an Aberdeen Angus to average 112.6p, while 140 dairy cows peaked at £890 for a Brown Swiss or 120.9p for a Friesian to average 89.7p.
Four bulls sold to £780 for a Limousin and 116.6p for a Shorthorn to average 89.1p.
The firm also had another large show of 17 head forward at its final sale of the year of dairy cattle that sold to £1,700 for a second-calved Holstein Friesian and averaged £1155.
The next sale of dairy cattle will be on January 3, 2017.
Wallets Marts sold 1628 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £102 per head and 248.8p per kg to average 172.6p (+12.2p on the week).
There were also 375 cast sheep forward that met a similar trade to last week with ewes selling to £120 for Texels and £63 for Blackfaces.
