Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 1703 prime hoggs in Lanark on Monday to a top of £96.50 per head and 221.1p per kg to average 179.8p (+17.4p on the week).

There were also 429 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £147.50 for Texels and averaged £71.37, while light ewes peaked at £67.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £47.46.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 10 prime heifers in Carlisle on Monday to a top of 218.5p per kg and an average of 206p (+4.6p), while 20 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 225.5p and levelled at 194.5p (-3.4p). Sixteen prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 193.5p and averaged 172.1p (-18.1p), while 27 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 169.5p and levelled at 141.3p (-0.5p).

In the rough ring 52 beef cows sold to 201.5p and averaged 131.4p (+4.9p), while 120 dairy cows peaked at 144.5p and levelled at 96.1p (+3.5p).

The firm also sold 1186 prime hoggs to a top of £105 and 256.8p to average 172.4p.

A small show of 65 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £100 for Texels and average £68.88, while light ewes peaked at £58 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £37.67.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 927 prime hoggs at Ayr on Monday to a top of £94 and 214.3p to average 173.4p (+14.9p).

There were also 254 cast sheep that were sharper on the week with ewes selling to £131 for Texels and £57 for Blackfaces.

The firm went on to sell 9 prime heifers at the same venue to a top of 243p and an average of 217.5p.

In the rough ring 23 beef cows sold to 124.5p and averaged 114.6p, while 77 dairy cows peaked at 130.2p and levelled at 89.3p.
