Wallets Marts sold 150 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £1105 per head and 253.6p per kg to average £850.20 and 206.2p (+2.2p on the fortnight), while 115 store bullocks peaked at £1210 and 263.9p to level at £970.26 and 226p (+11.4p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1119 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £93 per head and 209.3p per kg to average 169.5p (+6.9p on the week).

There were also 462 cast sheep forward when all classes were sharper on the week with ewes selling to £137.50 for Texels and £56.50 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 47 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 214.8p (+1.5p), while 33 prime bullocks peaked at 244p and levelled at 214.8p (+1p).

In the rough ring 84 beef cows sold to 183p and averaged 129p (-4.4p).

There were also 932 prime hoggs that sold to £92 and 226p to average 167p (+2.5p).

The 463 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £100 for Texels and average £75, while light ewes peaked at £84 for Cheviots and levelled at £39.

The firm also sold 24 prime heifers in Carlisle to a top of 244.5p and an average of 204.4p (+11.4p), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 223.5p and levelled at 195.4p (-3.2p). Twenty-eight prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 216.5p and averaged 192.6p (+6.3p), while 27 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 173.5p and levelled at 156.9p (+10.6p).

In the rough ring 93 beef cows sold to 199.5p and averaged 128.2p (+1.6p), while 213 dairy cows peaked at 175.5p and levelled at 96.9p (-1.8p). Seven bulls sold to 140.5p and averaged 121.1p (-5.6p).

There were also 1735 prime hoggs forward that sold to £104.80 and 268.7p to average 166.1p (+3.1p).

A nice show of 163 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £113.50 for Texels and average £64.74, while light ewes peaked at £51.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £41.21.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 238.1p (+5.2p), while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 220p (-6.2p). Eight prime, B&W bullocks sold to 147.5p and averaged 140.2p (no change).

In the rough ring 44 beef cows averaged 125.3p (+6.3p) and 37 dairy cows levelled at 98.3p (+1.3p).

The firm also sold 1715 prime hoggs to a top of £96.50 and 225p to average 171.5p (+6.5p).

The 750 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £123.50 for a Texel and average £66.07, while light ewes peaked at £58.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £39.47.
