Wallets Marts sold 175 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £1275 per head and 256.7p per kg to average £827.17 and 221.1p (+5.8p on the fortnight), while 332 store bullocks peaked at £1190 and 278.6p to level at £920.53 and234.4p (+7.3p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2126 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £95 per head and 207.1p per kg to average 163.2p (no change on the week).

There were also 639 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £148.50 for Texels and averaged £80.14, while light ewes peaked at £67 for Blackfaces and levelled at £44.27.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 53 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 240p and an average of 215.4p (+2.4p), while 16 prime bullocks peaked at 238p and levelled at 203.6p (-10.4p).

In the rough ring 43 beef cows sold to 195p and averaged 131.4p (+6.4p).

There were also 1450 prime hoggs forward that sold to £87 and 212.5p to average 165p (-5p).

A nice show of 461 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £105 for Suffolks and average £71, while light ewes peaked at £67 for Cheviots and levelled at £37.

The firm also sold 9 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 211.5p and an average of 192.2p (+1.4p), while 24 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 217.5p and levelled at 194.6p (-7.8p). Five prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 179.5p and averaged 162.5p (+0.8p). Twenty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 229.5p and averaged 184.9p (-3.2p), while 49 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 176.5p and levelled at 144.2p (+2.7p).

In the rough ring 106 beef cows sold to 206.5p and averaged 140.5p (+6.9p), while 197 dairy cows peaked at 154.5p and levelled at 104.1p (-3.1p).

There were also 2177 prime hoggs that sold to £103.80 and 253.2p to average 166.7p (-2.3p).

A small show of 91 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £125.50 for Texels and average £71.91, while light ewes peaked at £55.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £38.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 24 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 247p and an average of 228.5p (+1.5p), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224p and levelled at 204.5p (-2.1p). Eleven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 143.5p and averaged 136.6p (no change).

In the rough ring 40 beef cows averaged 125p (+1p), while 50 dairy cows levelled at 100p (-1p).

The firm also sold 2669 prime hoggs to a top of £100 and 211.6p to average 165.3p (-0.3p).

The 573 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £143 for a Texel and average £80.79, while light ewes peaked at £76.50 for a Blackface and levelled at £50.52.
