Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 2061 prime hoggs in Lanark on Monday to a top of £98.50 per head and 214.7p per kg to average 187.3p (-3.9p on the week).

There were also 876 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £148.50 for a Texel and £82.50 for Blackfaces to average £74.17 overall (-£3.37).

Wallets Marts sold 916 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £90 and 230.8p to average 182.2p (-6.7p).

The 289 cast sheep forward met recent rates with ewes selling to £138 for Texels and £75 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 15 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1286.20 per head and 235p per kg to average £1197.95 and 221p, while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks also peaked at £1286.20 per head, but the slightly lower price of 224p per kg, to level at £1195.57 and 200.4p. Four prime, B&W bullocks sold to £1037 and 170p to average £989.83 and 159.3p, while a prime bull fetched £1226.15 or 179p.

In the rough ring 40 beef cows averaged 125.9p and 127 dairy cows levelled at 91.6p. Twelve bulls averaged 130.2p and 13 clean OTM cattle levelled at 160.2p.
