Wallets Marts sold 105 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 264.7p per kg and an average of 228.2p per kg (+8p on the same sale last year), while 213 store bullocks peaked at 300.3p and averaged 251.7p (+15p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1397 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £150 per head and 223.9p per kg to average 187.3p (-2.7p on the week).
There were also 502 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £144 for a pen of Texels and averaged £87.94 (-£1.20), while light ewes peaked at £88 for Blackfaces and levelled at £61.48 (+97p).
John Swan Ltd sold 64 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 254p and an average of 217.5p (+3.5p), while 29 prime bullocks peaked at 246p and levelled at 219.5p (+1.8p).
In the rough ring 47 beef-type cows averaged 141.9p (+6.8p) and 7 clean OTM cattle levelled at 183.1p (-1.6p).
The firm also sold 1564 prime hoggs to a top of £109 and 236p to average £82.58 and 195.5p (+2.5p).
The 806 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £129 for Texels and average £77.69, while light ewes peaked at £89 for Cheviots and levelled at £57.68.

Twenty-six prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 223.5p and averaged 186.4p (-4.6p), while 34 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 179.5p and levelled at 151.7p (-2.8p).
In the rough ring 84 beef cows averaged 127.9p (-3.4p) and 189 dairy cows levelled at 105.7p (+4.5p). Eight bulls averaged 131.5p (+5p).
The firm also sold 2441 prime hoggs to a top of £115.80 and 254.3p to average 186.1p (-11.3p).
A small show of 95 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £122.50 for Texels.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 19 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 248p and an average of 233.7p (+1.2p), while 18 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 231p and levelled at 211.3p (-4.2p). Eighteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 177p and averaged 155.1p (+4.1p).
In the rough ring 60 beef cows averaged 134.7p (+14.1p) and 55 dairy cows levelled at 106.1p (+2.6p).
The firm also sold 1826 prime hoggs to £100.50 and 211.6p to average 187.2p (-4.6p).
The 673 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £143.50 for Texels and £80.50 for Blackfaces.
