Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 248p per kg and an average of 228.2p (-6.2p on the week), while two prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 209.1p (+0.7p).

Sixteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 157.5p and averaged 140.2p (-1p).

In the rough ring 31 beef cows averaged 132.1p (+0.1p) and 54 dairy cows levelled at 101.5p (-4.6p).

The firm also sold 2837 prime hoggs to a top of £99.50 per head and 220.5p per kg to average 184.2p (-10.5p).

The 304 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £144.50 for a Texel and £84.50 for Blackfaces to average £76.49 overall (-£7.02).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 6 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1322.40 per head and 236p per kg to average £1239.29 and 230.6p, while three prime bullocks peaked at £1357 and 236p to level at £1320.98 and 216.6p. A prime bull fetched £1215.50 or 170p.

In the rough ring 23 beef cows averaged 128.6p and 122 dairy cows levelled at 99.3p. Twenty bulls averaged 116.9p and 17 clean OTM cattle levelled at 148.2p.

A larger show of fifteen dairy cattle proved harder to cash selling to a top of £1450 twice for Holstein Friesian heifers and averaging £1123 (-£135).

Wallets Marts sold 683 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £91.50 and 208.3p to average 182.6p (-7.1p).

There was also a small show of 74 cast sheep forward that sold to a top of £146 for a Texel ram, while ewes peaked at £124, also for Texels, and £96.50 for Mules.
