The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 83 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 244.4p per kg and an average of 206.1p (-5.9p on the previous sale), while 97 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 272.2p and levelled at 220.7p (-5.7p).

Sixteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 190p and averaged 158.4p, while 11 store bulls peaked at 230p and levelled at 222p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2020 prime hoggs at Ayr on Monday to a top of £100 per head and 217.9p per kg to average 188.4p (+8.2p).

A smaller show of 268 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £155 for a pen of Texels and £87 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £87.60 (+£4.89).

John Swan Ltd sold 64 prime heifers in St Boswells on Monday to a top of 244p and an average of 215p (-5.2p), while 33 prime bullocks peaked at 227p and levelled at 208p (-11.5p).

In the rough ring 15 beef-type cows averaged 123p (+2p) and 7 clean OTM cattle levelled at 181p (+15p).

The firm also sold 2501 prime hoggs to a top of £110 and 226p to average £84.45 and 193p (+6p).

The 172 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £135 for Suffolks and average £99.65, while light ewes peaked at £100 for Cheviots and levelled at £63.68.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 19 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 249p and an average of 224.9p (-3.3p), while four prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 222p and levelled at 205.6p (-3.8p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 165.5p and averaged 136.1p (-3.9p).

In the rough ring 28 beef cows averaged 124.3p (-5.1p) and 28 dairy cows levelled at 103.1p (+1.6p).

The firm also sold 2283 prime hoggs to a top of £98.58 and 220p to average 196.5p (+12.3p).

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 11 prime heifers in Carlisle on Monday to a top of 194.5p and an average of 172.2p (-21.6p), while four prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 188.5p and levelled at 169.8p (-25.3p). Eight prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 179.5p and averaged 156.2p (+22.7p). Thirty-seven prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 224.5p and averaged 189.6p (no change), while 22 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 177.5p and levelled at 160.7p (+15p).

In the rough ring 33 beef cows averaged 129.4 (-20.4p) and 77 dairy cows levelled at 102.4p (-2.4p). Thirteen bulls averaged 127.6p (+9.3p).

The firm also sold 1438 prime hoggs to a top of £105.80 and 245p to average 185.7p (+4.3p).

A small show of 99 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £144.50 for Suffolks and £103.50 for Hill Cheviots.
