The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 96 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 268.3p per kg and an average of 222.2p (+6.1p on the previous sale), while 247 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 275p and levelled at 231.6p (+1.9p).

Twenty store, B&W bullocks sold

to 190p and averaged 172.1p (+8.5p), while 7 store bulls peaked at 256.4p and levelled at 207p (+1.2p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1194 prime hoggs at Ayr on Monday to a top of £94 per head and 196.6p per kg to average 163.9p (-2.2p), while 70 prime lambs peaked at £114 and 234.8p to level at 210.1p (+7.4p).

There were also 271 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £129 for Texels and £77.50 for Blackfaces.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 244p and an average of 227.9p (-2.4p), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 219p and levelled at 208.1p (+0.7p). Five prime, B&W bullocks sold to 149.5p and averaged 137.6p (+6.1p).

In the rough ring 34 beef cows averaged 128.6p (-1.5p) and 51 dairy cows levelled at 105.1p (-4.4p).

The firm also sold 1604 prime hoggs to a top of £99 and 216.7p to average 173p (-1.1p), while 38 prime lambs peaked at £99 and 216 to level at 200.1p (-1.8p).

The 356 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £138.50 for a Texel and £81.50 for Blackfaces.

John Swan Ltd sold 58 prime heifers in St Boswells on Monday to a top of 238p and an average of 209.5p (-3p), while 22 prime bullocks peaked at 228p and levelled at 206.2p (-2p).

In the rough ring 42 beef-type cows averaged 128.6p (+5p).

The firm also sold 982 prime hoggs to a top of £96.50 and 196p to average £82.40 and 167p (+1p), while 26 prime lambs peaked at £107 and 232p to level at £94.62 and 222p (+15p).

The 277 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £120 for Texels and £99 for Cheviots.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 14 prime heifers in Carlisle on Monday to a top of 221.5p and an average of 177.4p (+3.3p), while 3 prime bullocks peaked at 213.5p and levelled at 183.8p (-4.7p). Twenty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 198.5 and averaged 176.5p (-2.4p), while 31 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 174.5p and levelled at 151.4p (+7p).

In the rough ring 53 beef cows averaged 129.6p (-8.3p) and 136 dairy cows levelled at 107.9p (-4.6p).

The firm also sold 1225 prime hoggs to a top of £96 and 221p to average 161p (-6.5p), while 133 prime lambs peaked at £110 and 248.3p to level at 197.6p (+2.2p).

A small show of 109 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £120 for Suffolks and £90 for Hill Cheviots.
