Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 277 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1165 per head and 291.7p per kg to average £838.32 and 228.4p (+1.9p on the previous sale), while 393 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1345 and 310.6p to level at £968.05 and 237.8p (+13.7p).
Eighty-two store, B&W bullocks sold to £960 and 195.6p to average £791.59 and 170.1p (-3p).
The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 5248 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £100 per head and 237p per kg to average 180.7p (-3.8p), while 123 prime lambs peaked at £96 and 222p to average 206.4p.
A much smaller show of 2048 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £150 for Texels and average £106.33 (+£11.74), while light ewes peaked at £98 for Lleyns and levelled at £68.82 (+£11.07). Rams sold to £178 for a Suffolk and averaged £125.29 (+£18.25).
