Wallets Marts sold 66 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 245.1p per kg and an average of 207p, while 99 store bullocks peaked at 307.2p and levelled at 225.1p.
There were also 25 heifers with calf-at-foot that sold to £2400 and averaged £1884, while 25 bulling heifers peaked at £1120 and levelled at £937.
John Swan Ltd sold 67 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 244p and an average of 210.8p (+1.3p on the week), while 37 prime bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 204.3p (-1.9p).
In the rough ring 54 beef-type cows averaged 135.4p (+6.9p).
The firm also sold 1264 prime hoggs to a top of £98 per head and 201p per kg to average £84.59 and 176p (+9p), while 147 prime lambs peaked at £118 and 230p to level at £90.67 and 207p (-15p).
The 259 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £150 for Texels and average £91.34, while light ewes peaked at £81 for Cheviots and levelled at £47.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 215.5p and an average of 179.6p (+2.2p), while 40 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 219.5p and levelled at 169.6p (-14.2p). Twelve prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 145.5p and averaged 133.7p.
Twenty-five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 209.5p and averaged 170.4p (-6.2p), while 61 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 179.5p and levelled at 139.3p (-12.1p).
In the rough ring 120 beef cows averaged 131.3p (+1.6p), while 190 dairy cows levelled at 1o8.1p (-0.3p). Twelve bulls averaged 128.8p (+15.5p).
The firm also sold 1229 prime hoggs to a top of £97.80 and 206.7p to average 167.2p (+6.2p), while 143 prime lambs peaked at £106.80 and 240.5p to level at 209.2p (+11.5p).
A small show of 106 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £125 for Suffolks and £97.50 for hill Cheviots.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1097 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £100 and 200.1p to average 172.9p (+9.8p), while 132 prime lambs peaked at £110 and 261.9p to level at 204.3p (-5.7p).
The 437 cast sheep were again dearer on the week with ewes selling to £159 for Texels and £93.50 for Blackfaces.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 24 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 243p and an average of 224.5p (-2.4p), while 11 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 220p and levelled at 206.3p (+4.1p). Thirteen prime B&W bullocks sold to 145.4p and averaged 135.7p (-2.1p).
In the rough ring 45 beef cows averaged 131.5p (+2.9p) and 53 dairy cows levelled at 104.2p (-0.9p).
The firm also sold 1542 prime hoggs to a top of £99 and 212.5p to average 187.5p (+14.5p), while 79 prime lambs peaked at £105 and 236.9p to level at 211.5p (+11.4p).
