Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 24 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 247p per kg and an average of 222.7p (-4.1p on the week), while 7 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 210.4p (+0,2p).

Six prime, B&W bullocks sold to 161p and averaged 151.2p (+6.2p).

In the rough ring 43 beef cows averaged 130.5p (-4.1p) and 41 dairy cows levelled at 104.6p (-6p).

The firm also sold 551 prime lambs to a top of £100 per head and 217.1p per kg to average 195.5p (+1.1p), while 185 hoggs peaked at £90.50 and 164.1p to level at 135.4p (-6.1p).

The 298 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £141.50 for Texels and £90.50 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had a very small show of 17 store heifers in Lockerbie yesterday that sold to 216p and averaged 205.4p, while a couple of store bullocks levelled at 187.5p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 7 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1165.60 per head and 222p per kg to average £1115.04 and 201.4p, while 8 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1386 and 230p to level at £1208.54 and 220p. Two prime, B&W bullocks averaged £951.60 and 156p, while a couple of prime bulls levelled at £1059.50 and 199.9p.

In the rough ring 39 beef cows averaged 139.7p and 42 dairy cows levelled at 108.9p. Three bulls averaged 124.7p and 5 clean OTM cattle levelled at 157.8p.

The firm also sold 15 dairy cattle to a top of £1200 for a second-calved B&W and an average of £1029.

Wallets Marts sold 586 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £94.50 and 213p to average £80.24 and 194.1p (+3.3p).

The firm also had 103 cast sheep forward that met a much dearer trade with rams topping the trade at £131, ewes to £110 and hoggs peaking at £73.
