Wallets Marts sold 10 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 224.8p per kg and an average of 210.7p, while 28 store bullocks peaked at 261.8p and levelled at 236.3p.

In the rough ring 40 beef cows averaged 122p and 34 dairy cows levelled at 110.5p.

John Swan Ltd sold 47 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 218.1p (-1.9p on the week), while 36 prime bullocks peaked at 244p and levelled at 220p (+0.4p).

In the rough ring 44 beef cows averaged 138.8p (+1.6p).

The firm also sold 1404 prime lambs to a top of £90 per head and 206p per kg to average £65.45 and 159p (+7p).

The 491 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £112 for Texels and average £76.95, while light ewes peaked at £90 for Cheviots and levelled at £50.64.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1475 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £88 and 195.1p to average 160.1p (+7.1p).

There were also 409 cast sheep forward when Blackface ewes and leaner types maintained last week's values, while over-fat and heavy ewes were about £10 cheaper. Ewes sold to £125.50 for a pen of Texels and £68 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 238.5p and an average of 214.8p (+17.8p), while 18 prime bullocks peaked at 229.5p and levelled at 203.6p (+18.2p). Forty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 227.5p and averaged 192.7p (+17.3p), while 61 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 186.5p and levelled at 153.4p (+3.1p).

In the rough ring 121 beef cows averaged 145.7p (+4.5p) and 225 dairy cows levelled at 108.2p (-2.8p). Ten bulls averaged 123.9p (-0.7p).

The firm also sold 1715 prime lambs to a top of £97.80 and 209.7p to average 164.6p (+11.6p).

A small show of 54 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £98 for Texels.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 14 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 235.5p (+3.9p), while 9 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 242p and levelled at 225.8p (+8.2p). Seventeen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 165p and averaged 159.6p (+0.3p).

In the rough ring 41 beef cows averaged 130.1p (no change) and 28 dairy cows levelled at 103.1p (-0.5p).

The firm also sold 941 prime lambs to a top of £88 and 189.3p to average 164.5p (+11.6p).

The 398 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £137.50 for a Texel and £50.30 for Blackfaces.
