A one-stop shop offering Scotland's dairy farmers information, advice and training was officially launched yesterday by Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead during a visit to AgriScot.
The Dairy Hub will provide bespoke advice to Scotland's dairy farmers to improve on-farm efficiencies. It is a joint venture between the Scottish Government and DairyCo, and was established in line with a recommendation from the Scottish Dairy review "Ambition 2025". Mr Lochhead also announced £25,000 Scottish Government funding for a consultant to work with the Dairy Growth Board to develop a Scottish dairy brand.

Agriscot Dairy Farm of the Year: Wm Hamilton & Son, Meldrum, Blairdrummond. The average 305-day yield of this impressive 660 Holstein herd is 11,813kg and has a calving interval of 391 days, with age at first calving just over 23-months.
Scotch Beef Farm of the Year: John and Marion Tilson and their daughter Wanda Hobbs, who run 200 pedigree Aberdeen Angus cows, as well as 1,750 ewes, on 2,500 acres at Wedderlie Farm, Berwickshire.
AgriScot Business Skills competition: Ross Learmonth from Ellon, Aberdeenshire, a BSc (Hons) Agricultural student at SRUC Craibstone.
First cut clamp silage: AA Baird, Auchnotroch, Lesmahagow with a 15th-of-May cut analysing 76 D-value and 16 per cent crude protein. Big bale silage: PJ & SM Morris, Greengate House Farm, Lockerbie that was made on August 28 and had a D-value of 75 and a DM of 67. The inaugural Young Farmers Club clamp silage competition: Oliver Parkinson, Rolling Pin Farm, Preston.
