United Auctions sold 119 pedigree Simmental bulls at Stirling on Monday to a top of 16,000 guineas for one from J Jeffrey, Kerseknowe, Kelso, while the overall male champion from D M Donnelly, Atlow House, Ashbourne was bid to 15,000gns.
The final average levelled at £5267 (down by £398 on the year for an 83% clearance).
In the female section, 45 pedigree Simmentals sold to 4800 (twice) and averaged £2415.
Seven Saler bulls sold to 7,800gns and averaged £4725, while two females levelled at £2153.
A small entry of four British Blue bulls sold to 5000gns and averaged £4673.
The firm went on to sell 139 Charolais bulls at the same venue yesterday to average £6538 (-£410 for a 73% clearance).
Topping the day's trade was a hefty 26,000gns bid for one from DE Evans (Maredy), Monfa, Mold. The overall male champion was shown by the same breeder and sold for 25,000gns, while the senior reserve champion from Mr & Mrs J W Millar, Lochend Farm, Port of Monteith fetched 22,000gns. Fourteen Charolais females sold to 5000gns and averaged £3353.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 15 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1337.05 per head and 234p per kg to average £1202.09 and 220.7p, while three prime bullocks peaked at £1491 and 235p to level at £1322.28 and 221.6p.
Three prime bulls sold to £1417.50 and 210p (twice) to average £1255.96 and 200.9p.
In the rough ring 59 beef cows averaged 117.8p and 91 dairy cows levelled at 103.2p.
Six OTM cattle averaged 183p and four bulls levelled at 148p.
A small show of 11 dairy cattle met a slightly dearer trade on the week and sold to £2150 for a Holstein Friesian heifer, with the final average levelling at £1861.
Wallets Marts sold 719 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £93 per head and 217.3p.
Best in-spec hoggs were in demand with SQQs averaging 195.9p, however, a large proportion of 48-60kg hoggs diluted the overall average that levelled at 191.7p (-4p on the week).
The firm also had 423 cast sheep forward when all classes, except fat Mules, were sharper on the week.
Top price on the day was £118 for a Suffolk ram, while ewes sold to £96 for Texels, £65 for Mules and £60 for Blackfaces.
