Lawrie & Symington sold 132 store heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 231p per kg and an average of 206.6p, while 178 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 236.6p and levelled at 211.9p.

Fifty-four store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 179.8p and averaged 146.7p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 10 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to 237p and an average of 213.6p, while 19 prime bullocks peaked at 233p and levelled at 201.8p.

In the rough ring 80 beef cows averaged 110.5p and 110 dairy cows levelled at 79.4p. Twenty-two bulls averaged 103.5p and 10 clean, OTM cattle levelled at 172.9p.

The firm also sold 29 dairy cattle to £1750 on two occasions, firstly for a Holstein Friesian heifer and then for a Montbeliarde cows, with the overall average levelling at £1365.

Wallets Marts sold 1716 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £80 per head and 187p per kg to average 154.9p (+8.6p on the week).

There were also 320 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £87 for Bluefaced Leicesters and £59 for Blackfaces.
