Market round-up

CRAIG Wilson sold 224 store bullocks in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of £1150 per head and 247.1p per kg to average £844.35 and 195.8p (including 61 Friesians), while 128 store heifers peaked at £1030 and 223.9p to level at £753.71 or 195.6p.

Wallets Marts had 122 store cattle forward in Castle Douglas yesterday when bullocks sold to 234.8p and averaged 190.6p, while heifers levelled at 170p.

In the rough ring 74 OTM cattle averaged 132.7p.

John Swan sold 49 prime bullocks in St Boswells yesterday to average 205.6p (+3.2p on the week), while 33 prime heifers levelled at 204p (+4p). Eight young bulls averaged 204.3p (+26.3p).
