MARKET ROUND-UP

UNITED Auctions sold 1776 prime lambs at Stirling on Thursday to a top of £101 per head and 230p per kg to average 191.4p (-7.8p on the week).

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers' Mart sold 3430 prime lambs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £127.50 and 230.5p to average 198.7p.

There were also 5390 cast sheep forward with heavy ewes selling to £139.50 for Texels and averaging £87.09, while light ewes peaked at £86.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £53.08. Cast rams sold to £148.50 for Texels and averaged £106.76.
