United Auctions sold 409 store heifers at Stirling on Wednesday to a top of 249.2p per kg and an average of 212.4p (-0.6p on the week), while 417 beef-bred bullocks peaked at 269.6p and levelled at 222p (-2.5p).

One-hundred-and-six store, B&W bullocks sold to 164.6p and averaged 151.7p (-1.2p), while 29 store bulls peaked at 266.7p and levelled at 198.1p.

In the rough ring 316 cows averaged 105.7p.

The firm also had 4,730 store lambs forward. Top prices and averages: Texels to £66 and averaged £61.47 (+£1.39 on the week); Beltex £69 and £66.50 (+£3.50); CheviotX £62.50 and £56.50; Blackfaces £56 and £48.50 (+£5.51).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1,292 prime lambs in Newton Stewart on Wednesday to a top of £82 per head and 200p per kg to average 166.4p (+13.4p on the week).

The firm also had 326 cast sheep forward when ewes were also dearer with Texels selling to £119 and Blackfaces to £65.

The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 20 prime heifers in Dumfries on Wednesday to a top of 234.5p and an average of 212.8p.

There were 77 OTM cattle presented in the rough ring when beef cows averaged 114.8p and dairy cows levelled at 76.1p. The firm also sold 953 prime lambs to £79 and 197p to average 174.4p (+13.6p).

There were also 506 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £113 for Suffolks and averaged £68.65 (-£1.94), while light ewes peaked at £71 for Cheviots and levelled at £53.42 (+£9.25).
