Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1277 prime lambs in Newton Stewart on Wednesday to a top £77 per head and 170p per kg to average 150.1p (+3.1p on the week).

The 359 cast sheep forward were cheaper on the week with ewes selling to £75.50 for Texels and £55 for Blackfaces.

The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had 18 prime cattle forward in Dumfries on Wednesday when heifers sold to 220.5p per kg and averaged 211.2p, while bullocks peaked at 219.1p and levelled at 206.5p.

There were 62 cattle presented in the rough ring when beef cows averaged 124.8p and dairy cows levelled at 85.2p.

The firm also sold 1375 prime lambs to a top of £71 and 175p to average 146p (-9.4p).

There were also 836 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £115.50 for Texels and averaged £58.84 (-£9.18), while light ewes peaked at £58.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £36.28 (-£8.72).

United Auctions Sold 667 store heifers at Stirling on Wednesday to a top of 253p and an average of 212.6p (+0.5p), while 1057 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 257p and levelled at 222p (-0.3p). One-hundred-and-forty-nine store B&W bullocks sold to 169p and averaged 150.3p (+3.3p). In the rough ring 169 cows averaged 120.2p.

The firm also sold 7497 store lambs. Top prices and averages: Suffolks to £60 and averaged £54.58 (-£4.58 on the week); Texels £61 and £55.87 (-£1.57); Mules £57.50 and £50.88 (+£3.07); Beltex £65.50 and £61.25 (+£5.25); Cheviots £59 and £55.05 (+£2.62); Blackfaces £48 and £40.73 (-84p).
