John Swan Ltd sold 39 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 229p per kg and an average of 210.8p (+0.9p on the week), while 46 prime bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 207.6p (no change).
In the rough ring 41 beef-type cattle averaged 120.9p (-14.5p).
The firm also sold 1207 prime lambs to a top of £95.50 per head and 203p per kg to average 183p (-3p).
The 316 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £110 for Suffolks and average £83.43 (+£9.03), while light ewes peaked at £80 for Cheviots and levelled at £66.70 (+£2.85).
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 29 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 223.5p and an average of 182.1p (+0.4p), while 29 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 221.5p and levelled at 195.2p (+15p). Seven prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 150.5p and averaged 129.1p (-10.5p).
Sixty-five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 188.5p and averaged 165.8p (+4.8p), while 66 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 157.5p and levelled at 130p (+2.4p). In the rough ring 121 beef cows averaged 126.2p (+0.1p) and 121 dairy cows levelled at 99.5p (+.0.3p). Five bulls averaged 117.8p (+7.8p). The firm also sold 1227 prime lambs to a top of £99.80 and 228.1p to average 184.8p (-1.9p).
The 322 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £112 for Texels and £65.50 for Hill Cheviots.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 10 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 241p and an average of 229p (+4.2p), while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 231p and levelled at 204.5p (+7.8p). Sixteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 167p and averaged 148.2p (+1.1p).
In the rough ring 18 beef cows averaged 117p (-9p) and 15 dairy cows levelled at 86p (-1p).
The firm also sold 962 prime lambs to a top of £93 and 195.1p to average 175.9p (-6.5p).
The 634 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £126.50 for Texels and £74.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £62.93.
