HARRISON & Hetherington Ltd sold seven prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 222.5p per kg and an average of 186.2p (+4.9p on the week), while 11 prime bullocks peaked at 225.5p and levelled at 203.8p (+21p).
Thirty-two prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 221.5p and averaged 189.2p (+12p), while 31 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 183.5p and levelled at 155p (+10.8p).
In the rough ring 35 beef cows averaged 140.6p (+7.3p) and 65 dairy cows levelled at 110p (+1.8p). Five bulls averaged 123.7p (-2.9p).
The firm also sold 1,241 prime hoggs to a top of £121.80 per head and 294.5p per kg to average 214.1p (+7.6p), while 17 prime lambs peaked at £123.80 and 286.9p to level at 230.9p (-6.5p).
The 104 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £117.50 for Texels.
John Swan Ltd sold 56 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 268p and an average of 220.4p (+1.6p), while 39 prime bullocks peaked at 260p and levelled at 221.1p (+9.3p).
In the rough ring 43 beef-type cattle averaged 132p (no change).
There were also 1,715 prime hoggs that sold to £108.50 and 272.2p to average 211.9p (+9.7p), while 17 prime lambs levelled at 249.7p (+19p).
The 310 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £134 for Charollais and average £97.58, while light ewes peaked at £98.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £75.45.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1,201 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £117 and 247.5p to average 213.4p (+9.8p), while 32 prime lambs peaked at £126 and 262.2p to level at 250.1p (-9.1p).
The 347 cast sheep forward saw all classes sharper on the week with ewes selling to £146.50 for a pen of Texels and £78.50 for Blackfaces.
Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 21 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 220.5p (+1.1p), while 14 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 227.5p and levelled at 194.3p (-8.6p). Twenty-six prime, B&W bullocks sold to 168p and averaged 151.1p (-3.4p).
In the rough ring 12 beef cows averaged 136p (+8p) and 17 dairy cows levelled at 105p (+12p). Twenty OTM cattle averaged 125p (-3p).
The firm also sold 2316 prime hoggs to a top of £115 and 286.3p to average 216.2p (+10.2p). The 432 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £145.50 for Texels and £84.50 for Blackfaces to average £82.64 overall.
