Ganja And Hess (18)

Directed by playwright and novelist Bill Gunn, who also co-stars, this hard-to-forget 1973 film straddles the vampire and blaxploitation genres but adds a hefty dose of intellect to both. Gunn plays a man called George Meda, assistant to anthropologist Hess Green (Duane Jones, best known for his lead role in The Night Of The Living Dead). When Meda stabs Green with a ceremonial dagger, Green become immortal. Meda then shoots himself and his wife comes looking for him. Over 30 minutes were cut by Gunn's backers who released the film as (variously) Black Vampire and Vampires Of Harlem. Those missing scenes have been returned and the fact this restoration has been undertaken in collaboration with New York's Museum Of Modern Art tells you everything else you need to know about its worth.

The Last Seduction (18)

Kinky and brilliantly plotted neo-noir from 1994 directed by John Dahl and starring Linda Fiorentino as a manipulative, double-crossing but extremely likeable temptress who outwits a string of men en route to her ill-gotten gains. Great stuff.

Kinetta (18)

Ahead of the release of his first English language film, The Lobster, Second Run bring the debut feature from feted Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos to DVD for the first time. And yes, it's characteristically weird: think David Lynch meets Luis Bunuel.
