Cheers for nothing. The whisky industry’s complacency has cost us 52,000 jobs

Scotch whisky has basked in apparently effortless success in recent years, boasting of its exports to 200 markets worldwide.

But we should see through the flattering, fireside glow in which the industry presents itself.

Industry complacency has strong foundations. Scotch can only be made in Scotland. Its quality and legitimacy are protected by the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA).
