Chinese growth data gives markets a fillip

Reassuring figures from the Chinese economy helped lift mining stocks today as London's FTSE 100 Index maintained its decent run of recent days.

Growth in the world's second-largest economy slowed to 7.4% in the three months to September but there were signs from industrial output and retail sales figures that the worst of the country's economic slowdown may be over.
