THE volume of UK construction output in August was down 11.6% on the same month of last year, with public and private sector work falling sharply, according to official figures which underline the huge economic pressures on the industry.
The figures, which are published by the Office for National Statistics and are not adjusted for seasonal factors, showed yesterday that the total volume of UK construction industry output fell by 0.9% between July and August. The ONS put construction output in August at £8.19 billion in constant, 2005 prices.
