Decline in job placements

THE number of permanent placements made by Scottish recruitment agencies fell for the first time in six months in February, research for Bank of Scotland showed.

Placements increased across the UK, but at the weakest rate in five months.

Temporary billings in Scotland rose for the eighth month last month.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Retail Consortium said total retail footfall fell 2.5% in Scotland on last year.
