Hotel occupancy at record high

GLASGOW's hotels achieved record occupancy rates in February and were almost full on one night, a survey found.

LJ Research said 78.3% of the rooms offered by hotels it monitored in Glasgow were occupied last month, the highest level for February since records began in 1999. Occupancy peaked at 99% on 1 February, coinciding with the opening of the Glasgow Film Festival and a Strictly Come Dancing show at the SSE Hydro. Average room rates rose by 6.8% annually on February 2013, to £63.36. Occupancy was 73% in February 2013.
