Industry wants the next government to raise pensions

The pensions industry is urging the next government to adopt a radical blueprint which would see the state pension raised by £25 a week, and the minimum contribution for the new workplace pensions raised from 8% to 11%.

The National Association of Pension Funds says two million pensioners would be lifted out of means-tested benefits, while workers could retire on two-thirds of average earnings.
