MPC split three ways over monetary policy

MONETARY Policy Committee member Adam Posen voted unsuccessfully for an immediate further boost to money supply to stimulate the UK economy two weeks ago as the MPC split three ways, it emerged yesterday.

Minutes of the nine-strong Bank of England committee’s October 6 and 7 meeting, published yesterday, meanwhile showed that MPC hawk Andrew Sentance voted in vain again for an immediate rise in UK base rates from their record low of 0.5%.
