GLASGOW City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) has won the accolade of the UK's Best Convention Bureau for the ninth year in a row.

Glasgow was voted number one, ahead of strong competition from Convention Bureau of London & Partners, Liverpool Convention Bureau, NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau and Marketing Edinburgh, in a UK-wide poll by industry magazine Meetings & Incentive Travel (M&IT).

GCMB noted that Glasgow was the first UK city ever to collect the top prize over nine consecutive years.

The M&IT poll collects votes from more than 4,500 meetings industry professionals.

Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: "GCMB's Convention Bureau has rightly been recognised as the best in the UK for many years."

He added: "The number, scope and scale of conferences it has brought to the city is remarkable and has made a significant contribution to Glasgow's economy, with huge benefits for businesses throughout the supply chain, including food suppliers, the hospitality trade, distribution companies and transport providers."
