A pilot initiative to appoint events management students as international tourism ambassadors is launched today.

The partnership project will see three female students from Queen Margaret University become Student Tourism Ambassadors at Edinburgh Airport from June 1 until August 31.

The programme has been designed to provide new employment and training opportunities for young people.

The university has commissioned kilt maker Kinloch Anderson, to produce QMU tartan waistcoats for the ambassadors.

Organisers hope the programme will be rolled out to other universities and colleges across Scotland in 2016, and possibly expanded to other airports and rail stations.
