UK in recovery but challenges remain, warns MPC member

Andrew Sentance, a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, said the UK appeared to be moving out of recession but reiterated warnings that there were big uncertainties that could weigh on the economy for years.

Sentance noted that while official data showed the economy shrank by 0.4% in the third quarter, there had been a number of indications that the country had returned to growth mode recently.
