Uncertain future for financial watchdog as Sants quits top job

The future of the UK’s financial watchdog was cast into even deeper uncertainty when its chief executive quit unexpectedly.

The Financial Services Authority said Hector Sants would leave the organisation in July, after three years in the post.

Sants said he was leaving in accordance with a timetable that he had agreed with the board when he took charge.
