Value and volume of deals dip

THE volume of UK corporate deals fell 39% in the second quarter of the year, according to Office for National Statistics data.

There were 149 transactions of more than £1 million between April and the end of June, compared to 237 in the corresponding period of 2011.

The value of deals – which includes acquisitions UK companies have completed abroad – dropped from £24 billion to £7.4bn.
