Wolfson Microelectronics, the Scottish technology star still reeling from the loss of an Apple contract, yesterday revealed that it had plunged into the red for 2009 – but its shares rocketed as the City was heartened by what could be the first shoots of a turnaround at the company.
Shares in the Edinburgh-based designer of specialist audio microchips surged almost 15% yesterday after the company said that it had now prepared the ground for an upturn this year and that demand in South Korea for its new audio products would boost 2010 revenue.
