THE University of Strathclyde is to offer a Master of Science qualification in financial technology, or Fintech, which is seen as an important growth market for Scotland. The university expects the course to be the first of its kind in the UK when it starts in September. It has been designed to help students acquire financial, programming and analytical skills which they could use to help firms maximise the potential of digital technology to increase the efficiency and the security of systems. Daniel Broby, head of the university’s Centre for Financial Regulation said: “The Scottish financial sector needs to capitalise on Fintech or miss out.”
