MOTT MacDonald has agreed a deal to move in to the landmark St Vincent Plaza office scheme in Glasgow in what has been billed the largest letting in Scotland since the EU referendum.

The international engineering consultancy has shown confidence in the Scottish market by taking two floors of the development on St Vincent Street on a 15 year lease.

It is relocating its office from Glasgow’s Atlantic Quay in mid 2017.

Divisional director Andrew Oldfield said: “Moving to St Vincent Plaza will provide a modern working environment for our staff and support our growth for years to come.”

Mott MacDonald’s decision to commit to the property, developed by the Abstract group, may help allay fears about the potential impact of the Brexit vote on the property market in Glasgow.

In January Alasdair Steele, head of Scotland commercial at Knight Frank, said the market “pretty much ground to a halt” in the three to six months after the June referendum.

Christopher McPherson, development director of Abstract said the company had experienced a significant uplift in occupier interest in St Vincent Plaza in recent weeks.

Meanwhile property company Telereal Trillium has acquired a building on West Nile Street in Glasgow from CBRE Global Investors for £6.5 million. Seven West Nile Street has an outlet of Italian restaurant chain Carluccio on the ground floor with offices above.

Mott MacDonald employs around 400 in Glasgow.
