US employers added just 98,000 jobs last month, the fewest in a year, but the unemployment rate fell to a nearly 10-year low of 4.5%. The rate fell because nearly half a million more Americans reported finding jobs, the US Labor Department said on Friday. Economists had expected a fall-off in hiring in March after gains in January and February had averaged a robust 218,000, but the drop was worse than expected.
