When will people learn?
The gent in Seat 20B on the London City BA flight was lost in his own MacBook world. He was merrily typing a letter to Colin Buchan, the chairman of the investment committee of Standard Life Investments, who is about to retire.
It was a flowery and personal epistle. Lovely stuff indeed. And yes, you're right, it is down-right rude to read other people's mail. Discretion prevents Agenda from revealing any more, suffice to say that, had this been someone more junior revealing details of Standard Life Investments' portfolio, then there would be stiff questions being asked at No 1 George Street.
Thankfully, it was only Rod Paris, the chief investment officer of Standard Life Investment. Why do such clever people think sitting on an aeroplane means you're surrounded by an invisible bubble?
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
