WHILE it is encouraging to see positive signs for Scotland from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor there remains a lot of work to be done.

A rising number of people planning to start companies and growth in total early-stage entrepreneurial activity are certainly decent building blocks with which to start.

But as the report's author, Professor Jonathan Levie, points out the economic conditions of the past few years have pushed more people towards considering launching their own business so the upturn in the data is not unexpected.
