THE annual M&S shareholder meeting has almost as important a place in the summer calendar of middle Britain as Wimbledon.
A well-heeled crowd seemingly transplanted directly from court side gathers to munch free sandwiches and cake and have a good-natured grumble about the width of its shoes.
This year was different. There was an air of unease.
