SINCE opening his first store in Leith in 1991, David Moulsdale can claim to have developed one of the most successful businesses in the UK's eyecare sector.

With a reputation for strict control over costs, Mr Moulsdale grew Optical Express into one of the biggest optician chains through a mixture of store openings and acquisition of rivals such as Specialeyes, winning him market share and big economies of scale.
