Burness boosts Aberdeen planning team

BURNESS Paull has boosted its team in Aberdeen by appointing Margaret Bochel as a director in its planning division.

Ms Bochel will join the law firm in September from Aberdeen City Council, where she is currently head of planning and sustainable development.

Burness said the appointment strengthens its planning sector expertise.

Ms Bochel said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Burness Paull at this very exciting time for the firm. Bauer appoints Hughes to top creative post

BAUER Media Group has appointed John-Paul Hughes to the new post of group head of creative for its City Network.

Mr Hughes makes the switch from his current role as head of creative at Radio Clyde, having previously worked for companies such as GMG Radio (then Real & Smooth Radio) and Spike Media.

A former footballer with Dundee United and Queen of the South, he has worked on campaigns for FanDuel, Celtic, Ryanair, Harley Davidson and Hard Rock Cafe.

The Bauer City Network comprises more than 40 radio stations owned by the Bauer group in major cities across the UK.

Mr Hughes said: "I'm really chuffed to be offered this new role and to enjoy the confidence of such a great team. I'm particularly looking forward to working with the heads of creative across all BCN stations and seeing the results of effective collaboration.

"My new role will involve working closely with the BCN creative and commercial teams to really understand each client and work with them to generate themes, messaging and concepts they can use across all platforms from radio advertising to social media and print to outdoors."

Brett makes key Glasgow hire

PETER Brett Associates, the development and infrastructure consultancy, has recruited Stefano Smith has director of planning in its Glasgow office.

Mr Smith joins after three years as technical director (planning and environment) at Amec Foster Wheeler, where he steered major residential projects through the planning process and acted as expert witness in planning appeals and local development plan examinations.

He is junior vice-convenor of the Royal Town Planning Institute and an external lecturer at Heriot-Watt University.

Mr Smith said: "I am very much looking forward to working with PB, which already has a robust and varied portfolio of projects in Scotland. This is a business on the cusp of even greater success."
