BORDER Biscuits has boosted its sales team by brining Donald Musson on board as national account manager.

Mr Musson has been tasked with strengthening the Lanark-based company’s presence in the foodservice and wholesale business.

He brings a wealth of food industry experience to the role, having worked for MDC Foods, Annabel Karmel and Matthew Algie, and managed head office relationships with wholesalers such as Brakes, 3663 and Booker, and developed accounts with the likes of Hilton, Radisson, Whitbread, JD Wetherspoon.

He said: “I am relishing the prospect of driving sales with a wide range of quality products and I am eager to work with Border’s skilled team. Border Biscuits is a company that prides itself on excellence and I am looking forward to making a valuable contribution going forward.”

Sales and marketing director Mark Bruce said: “Donald’s wide skill set will make him an integral part of our business as we continue to grow during an exciting time in the company’s history. His account portfolio will cover all foodservice and retail wholesalers alongside his role to increase our direct contact with larger end user accounts.”

Core makes a key hire

CORE-Asset Consulting, the Edinburgh-based recruitment firm, has appointed Karen McNab to the new post of associate director, product and strategy.

Ms McNab will be responsible for developing products and services, as well as boosting the efficiency of the firm’s recruitment operations.

Prior to joining Core-Asset Consulting she held senior human resources roles at Tesco Bank and Alliance Trust.

Ms McNab’s appointment takes the total headcount at the company to 32 – a 100 per cent rise in two years.

Managing director Betsy Williamson said Ms McNab’s appointment comes as clients and candidates are “demanding higher levels of expertise, engagement and value from recruiters.”

Ms Williamson added: “Karen’s appointment reflects our commitment to continuous improvement in these areas.”

Scottish Rugby strengthens pack

SCOTTISH Rugby has bolstered its senior management team by appointing Dominic McKay as chief operating officer and Robert Howat to the board.

Mr McKay, formerly director of commercial operations, communications and public affairs at the organisation, has had his portfolio extended to include the management of the BT Murrayfield stadium facilities, alongside his commercial, marketing, pro team and sponsorship responsibilities.

Mr Howat has been invited on to the board in recognition of his contribution to the organisation since joining as General Counsel in January 2013 to lead its legal and governance team. He recently took responsibility for its human resources and business service departments.

Scottish Rugby chief executive Mark Dodson said: “It is a great example of the strength Scottish Rugby has at executive level that senior staff of the quality of Dominic and Robert can be acknowledged.

“We are evolving our corporate structure to ensure we can continue to deliver continued commercial, operational and ultimately sporting success for the sport in this country and I am delighted Dominic and Robert will play a key part in that progress in their new roles.”
