EDINBURGH-based sensor technology firm Pyreos has appointed a global electronics industry heavy hitter to its board as the company eyes growth in international markets.

Tony Lear has become a non-executive director of Pyreos after working for big names such as Philips Semiconductors, Seagate Technology and Texas Instruments. He sits on the board of Fairchild Semiconductor in the USA.

Howard Ford, chairman at Pyreos, said Mr Lear’s experience would prove extremely useful as directors continue to grow the business, whose products are used in devices that detect flames and dangerous gases.
