Allin brought on Stream

BUSINESS Stream has added Dave Allin to its senior team as it strengthens its ranks prior to the deregulation of the English water market in 2017.

Mr Allin joins Edinburgh-based Business Stream following 23 years with Severn Trent, rising from technician to become one of the UK’s leading wastewater operations experts.

At Severn Trent he also served as service delivery manager, responsible for providing water services to industrial and commercial customers at more than 1,500 sites across the UK.

At Business Stream Mr Allin will be based in the Glasgow office, reporting to commercial director James Cardwell-Moore. He said: “Dave brings solid knowledge and invaluable experience to help drive forward our ambitions to compete in the English water market ahead of its opening in 2017.

“His extensive knowledge of the UK market, alongside his excellent management and service delivery track record, will help us to further strengthen our position in both Scotland and England.”

Mr Allin said: “I am very pleased to be joining one of the industry’s most progressive companies at such an important time for the water sector."

Four go to GS Group

GS Group, the insurance broker, has made four new appointments at its Glasgow base.

Norrelle King joins the company as branch director, along with senior account executive Marian Player and senior commercial account handlers Kate Taylor and Catherine Wightman.

The business, founded in Perth 24 years ago, employs 60 staff at offices across the country, with the turnover now in the region of £20 million.

Managing Director George Stubbs said: “We have been building the business in Glasgow over the past five years, generating around £7m in that period.

“Perth has a long and proud insurance tradition dating back to the days when Sir Francis Norie-Miller founded General Accident.

“And Glasgow has always been an integral part of our own business development model.

“We have 13 members of staff at our St Vincent Street offices and are now well-placed to further expand in a market which is central to the insurance industry in Scotland.”

New finance chief for Banchory decorator

BANCHORY-based R Davidson Painters & Decorators has hired a new finance director.

Denise Brown, who has been appointed support the firm’s expansion plans in the private and commercial sectors, has brings more than 25 years of finance experience to the role.

She has been with the firm since joining as office manager in 2002 as office manager, having previously worked for an oil and gas service company.

Ms Brown said: “I have been with the business for 13 years now and I know the company inside out. Being appointed as a director is really rewarding after all of the hard work I have put into the firm over the years, and it’s great to know that the company values my input.

“To work in such a close-knit team means you have to adapt and oversee various tasks within the business, but my main focus is to use my financial knowledge to support the managing director with potential growth opportunities, and we are committed to implementing a more sound management structure in order to support this growth.”

Owner and managing director Trevor Mutch, said: “Over the past year or so, we’ve witnessed significant demand for our services and so it became clear that we needed to put a stronger management system in place. It was therefore a natural progression for Denise to be appointed as a director, especially after all the hard work and commitment she has put into the company over the years."
