Aggreko has appointed an experienced international executive to head up its power solutions business.

Nicholas Fournier spent around two decades of his careers with cement maker Lafarge including in regional president and chief executive roles across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The Frenchman latterly worked at Minty Advisory working as the head of a group looking to take over the assets being disposed of by Lafarge-Holcim as a condition of their merger. The assets were eventually snapped up by CRH.

Aggreko said Mr Fournier has “a proven ability to establish, lead and grow businesses in both developed and emerging markets”.

He will take on his new managing director role from November 2.

The power solutions arm is focused on developing economies and provides a range of temporary power solutions, including power plants.

Chris Weston, Aggreko chief executive, said: "Nicolas has relevant experience in emerging markets and the industrial sector in particular, which combined with his leadership skills and ability to drive improved business performance will bring further expertise to Aggreko.

“I am delighted to be able to welcome him to the Group and look forward to working together on delivering our business priorities.”

Aggreko designs and manufactures its equipment at its plant in Dumbarton.
